Teleport

Joshua
December 15, 2004

It was June and the sky was clear. The weather was smooth and mellow, a perfect day for relaxing. "Come on, let's take a walk on the beach. That warm sand will feel good on your feet. And that cool water! Oh, I can't wait!" That's my wife; we have been living here in New Hampshire together for about five years now. We've been together for nine. "Sure let's go, it's a beautiful day for the beach. We might even be able to watch the sun go down." I love her. I couldn't imagine being with anyone else.

There were plenty of sun worshipers at the beach; I guess we weren't the only ones who wanted to see the sunset. We walked across the entire beach as the sun approached the water. We kissed in the warm glow of the sunlight while listening to the waves hit the beach with a calm, soothing sound. "You are the most wonderful person I have ever known and the most beautiful person I have ever seen." I spoke softly into her ear. She looked at me with loving eyes and said, "I will always love you." I held her close to me as we watched the sun descend into the water's surface. We started back toward the car and drove home. There we sat and watched movies and went to bed soon after.

The next day I had to go to work, "I love you sweetie. I'll see you when I get home, okay?"

"Okay baby I'll see you later." She would be leaving too but she had the day off. I wished I could spend the day with her. I've been working at a department store as assistant manager for about three years. I like my job. It pays pretty well, about $11.75 an hour. My wife Yolanda works as a cashier in the same department store as me. I was able to help get her the job there. She was working at a clothing store across town before.

Yolanda is home alone on her day off and she misses her husband. "It sucks my day off and I have to spend it alone. Well at least I was able to get some extra sleep. I wish my boo was here with me, then we would be having some fun right now." The phone rings, she answers! "Hello?"

"Hey baby how you doin'?"

"Oh, hi sweetie, I'm just bored out of my mind right now, I wish you were here."

"Trust me I wish I was there too. I'd rather be with you than doing this paper work. I was just calling because I miss you and I know that you're bored. I thought you would be sleeping still."

"I woke up about an hour ago, I had a really good sleep too. I was just looking through the DVDs trying to find something to watch to pass the time till you get home."

"I have some good news baby."

"Oh really, what is it?"

"Oh nothin' really, I'm just getting off early today."

"You are! What time?"

"What time is it now?"

"About 12:00."

"Well I'll be home in about twenty minutes."

"Oh baby, that's great! I can't wait to see you I thought I was going to have to spend the rest of the day alone."

"I'm about to leave right now so I'll be there in a few minutes okay, I want a movie picked out by the time I get there. Bye, baby I love you."

"Bye I love you to." That was a nice surprise; she thought I love him so much. What movie I should pick? I know, we can watch Spiderman 2.

After we watched the movie we went to bed and emerged the next day, which was Saturday. After we ate breakfast I got a phone call from the store telling me I had to come in because the manager needed my assistance ASAP. I told my wife, "Baby I probably won't be in for more than a couple of hours, I'll be back in no time. Okay?"

"Alright. I'll be waiting for you."

Since it was Saturday morning there wasn't much traffic. I arrived at the office and dealt with the situation in less than an hour, the server for the computers crashed and I had to reboot them. I left work and began my journey home. There still wasn't much traffic. I dug my cell out of my pocket so I could call my wife and tell her that I was on my way home. When I pulled it out it slipped out of my hand and fell to the floor on the passenger side. I looked at the road and to see if there where any cars on the road. It was all clear so I reach for the phone; which had fallen underneath the seat. As I grabbed it and looked to the road, I spotted a huge truck driving through the stop sign intersection in front of me. My car collided with the side of the truck and I found myself on the floor in my living room in front of Yolanda who was sitting on the couch reading a magazine. She was looking at me, startled and confused. "What happened?" " I don't know, I didn't hear you come in you weren't there a second ago, I swear. You just appeared out of nowhere, I don't know how you got there." "I was in the car, I was driving home, I dropped my phone under the seat, when I went to pick it up there were no cars on the road. When I looked up there was this truck, I hit it, and then I was here, I thought I was going to die. I don't know how I got here, I was just in the car!" What happened to me?
